Kitchen Renovation Programme
How a kitchen renovation runs on site.
A closer look at the seven phases of a typical full kitchen renovation — from the first survey through to handover. Durations are realistic ranges, not promises; your written quote will set out the exact programme for your project.
Before phase 01
The survey runs faster — and your quote is tighter — when the basics are already gathered. Run through our kitchen renovation checklist before you get in touch.

Strip-out is phase 03 on the programme above. We isolate water, gas and electrics in the kitchen first, then remove the existing units, worktops, appliances, tiles and flooring. Floors, doorways and adjacent rooms are protected with dust sheets and boards before any breaking-up begins, and waste leaves in rubble bags or a licensed skip depending on access. Once the room is empty we inspect what's been exposed — walls, services, sub-floor — and flag anything unexpected before first-fix starts. For a typical room it's usually one to three days on site.
Tiling is phase 05 — it begins once first-fix services (plumbing, electrics, extraction) are signed off and any plaster repairs are dry. Floor tiles or chosen flooring go in first, then splashbacks and any feature walls, all grouted, sealed and protected before the kitchen fitter starts setting units. We coordinate trim lines and heights with the fitter so reveals around units, plinths and the cooker recess line up cleanly. A typical kitchen runs two to four days for the tiling phase.
Fit-out (phase 06) is usually five to ten working days of active install — base and wall units levelled, sink, tap, hob, oven, extractor and integrated appliances fitted, then second-fix electrics and plumbing. The catch is the worktop: stone worktops are templated *after* the units go in and fitted one to two weeks later, so the kitchen often goes 'usable' in two phases rather than one. We plan the gap with you so you know exactly which days you'll be without a worktop or sink.
Each question links back to the matching phase above — strip-out, tiling, fit-out.

We can fit units and fittings you have chosen, or help you source them. Either way the renovation is managed as one project.
A standard bathroom refurbishment usually takes around 2–3 weeks depending on scope, tiling and any layout changes.
Not during the strip-out and first-fix phase. We can usually plan a temporary cooking area and minimise the no-use period.
